Technology in Digital Learning

➑️ Technology is NOT the Protagonist in the Digital Learning Creation Process

- technology should not drive the planning and design of digital learning
- tech tools alone won't get your students to achieve the learning outcomes
- tech is only one of the many building blocks needed to create engaging digital learning experiences

πŸ‘©πŸΌ‍πŸ’»I love a bit of tech

But it is really important that you choose the right technology to help students progress in their learning pathways so they can meet the learning outcomes.

Technology is obviously very important in the creation process and the delivery of digital learning experiences, and yes there is almost an infinite choice of tech tools for all different purposes out there. Tools for presentations, collaboration, checking understanding, different assessment types, virtual classrooms, webinars, learning management systems, feedback...and the list goes on and on!

πŸ‘‰ Knowing what to use can be overwhelming at times and may take a lot of experimenting to see what works for individual contexts as well as different types of delivery. And THAT IS OK! It took me and my team of teachers time to understand what worked best for our own students ( I was lucky my team was very patient 🀣). So my suggestion is just to experiment to see what works for you.

If you tend to feel a little overwhelmed by all the tech choices out there main thing when looking at tech tools for your digital learning experiences is to make sure they align with the overall aim of the learning. Tech is just one piece of the puzzle, one building block to help students get from A to B or A to Z.

πŸ‘‰ Also when choosing what to use, make sure your students are able to access it ( it is often the case that in international contexts, some students are not able to use a particular app or access certain websites).
πŸ‘‰ Last but not least, show your students how to use it. It may seem like an obvious thing to say but I have come across 17 year old international students who did not know how to use word. For some reason we assume students are all tech savvy, but that is not always the case. If students don't know how to use the Quiz you created for them as a means of checking their understanding from the lesson, for example, they will disengage ❌ and that is one thing you do not want to happen!

❓Which tech tools do you use to facilitate digital learning?
πŸ™ˆ Are you tech shy?
🀯 Or totally tech overwhelmed?
